The more durable foam options were often bulky and cost over $100. Second, nearly all of them kept me floating on top of the water, which didn’t help in 90-plus-degree heat. Staying cool meant getting off the float entirely, and with most designs, that wasn’t an easy or enjoyable process.
To address these issues, I started designing a float that met the real needs I had experienced.
